Umberto Lago

He was born in 1964.

He graduated at Bocconi University in 1989 and he worked for a few years as a consultant for Monitor Company, being involved in projects of strategic marketing, competitors’analysis, market and consumers’analysis for large Italian and foreign multinational firms operating in consumer goods, oil and telecommunication industries. In 1992 he entered Bocconi University as a Research Fellow and in 1995 he moved to London to earn his Ph.D. in Business Strategy.

Since 2000 he is with the University of Bologna where he is Associate Professor of Marketing. He has published various books and articles in the field of strategic marketing, has been invited as speaker in national and international conferences.

He is consultant for many firms, mainly in the field of strategic marketing.
Since 2009, he is the Italian member of the experts’ panel founded by Uefa to monitor the financials of European professional football clubs.
